Brya is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist passionate about helping others be their most authentic and vibrant self. Brya received her Masters in Counseling Psychology at Holy Names University in Oakland, CA where she currently resides and practices therapy.
Brya believes in holistic mental health services that encourage individuals to find healing by discovering how to become more empowered and whole. Brya has learned through her education and life experiences that joyful and authentic living is a long and arduous journey that requires a great deal of introspection, courage and self-knowledge. Inspired by her experiences and education, Brya works diligently to overcome obstacles that get in the way of authentic living so that people are empowered to become more beautifully themselves and achieve their personal goals.
Brya believes that each person has their own resiliency and capacity to solve their own problems. When given support and a safe place to explore the inner workings of their mind, heart, and body, each person's resiliency and capacity shine.
By integrating the whole self, Brya encourages her clients to accept even the parts of the self that have been deemed unworthy or unlovable. Brya challenges her clients to see the truth of who they are and begin living the life that will bring the most joy and peace.
By using therapeutic interventions such as Client-Centered Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Brya hopes that each person she comes in contact with can feel a genuine response of connection, unconditional positive regard and acceptance through the therapeutic relationship. The goal is that through the therapeutic relationship Brya can challenge clients to courageously love themselves and reach their utmost potential.
When working with children and adolescents, Brya uses the power of respect, validation and positive interaction to retrain the brain to cope more positively, think more deeply and live one's life more authentically.
